L’azione delle molle permette davvero il sostegno corretto del dormiente ma impedisce l’affondamento progressivo del corpo. Il sonno risulta quindi meno confortevole, in quanto il corpo dovrebbe venire accolto dolcemente dal materasso e non si dovrebbe dormire su una superficie troppo rigidia. Inoltre, a differenza dei materiali di ultima generazione, come il memory foam, costruiti per durare anche dieci anni, le molle tendono a cedere sotto la pressione del corpo e a danneggiarsi con l’usura.
